hey all.. i've been waiting so long to say this... DOS is nw back on track again.. partially. ahahaks. nw we already have our new line ups. nt exectly new, but still, a change of line ups..

syafiq- vocals.
ian- guitars/vocals.
shah- bass. ( in the mean time)
farid- drums.
mido- trumpet.
zahidah- tbone.
hafizd- keyboards.

and there u have it, a 7 piece ska band. and its gonna make a comeback. =] ok that really sound lame. anyways, shah will be playing the bass guitar till we get a replacement or till azam decide to be part of us again.

hey people. here i am again. blogging abt our erm... success? anyways, saturday will be the day DOS will jam. we've nt been contacting for 2 weeks straight and lets hope.. let me say it again, lets hope everything turns out fine.. as usual, we gonna jam at lee kuang seng. time? hmm.. make it abt 12 noon. and for the ferst time, our keyboardist is gonna jam with us.. anyways, i cant wait to hear DOS play again. bluek. its been a while though.

hmmmzzz.. hello all.. its a beautiful friday and yeah.. DOS is quietly sleeping with the fishes 8 feet below.. everyone seem to be quiet these days.. well, i cant possibly blame them for this cause eveyone have commitments..

-Guest Perfomance @ BBCC-

We were invited to be the guest band for the Battle of the Bands at Bukit Batok CC. At first we were given a 30 minutes slot but then we can only play 3 songs. We played Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts, Drinking for 11 and The Joust. There wasn't any crowd but we still enjoyed ourselves. There wasnt much time adapt to the place though we had played there before. Due to the number of songs and the rush of time, we weren't able to give our best. Worst still, the horns were ordered to move away from the mics thus our sound weren't as good. -_-". Overall, at least the important people enjoyed it, saying that it's something different from all the rock bands competing in the competition. That makes us feel better than the crowd saying that we're like a marching band. -_-". Well, we take in everything. What we know is that, we'll keep the people skanking. Cheers!

DOS will not be performing till the 3 Nation Ska. Due to Zahidah having her examinations. We're backing out from the inveted performances at BBCC again next week and also the SkaFiesta. So catch us again, in June, with a whole new song line up. Keep ur feets in skanking mode. Haha!!

-Smoking Cessation (Bonfire)-

Eventhough everything was last minute, things went really well. Much better than any of us had expected. Zahidah was allowed to skip school for one day. The sound was much better than the previous day's test. A whole lot of supporters came it grew!! WOW! We thought only our friends were supporting us but it seems like everyone was enjoying our performance, other than the extra mats at the side. -_-". Our time slot given was actually 20 minutes but we played for 50 minutes cause the people wants us to drag the show. So we did. Luckily we have a lot of songs prepared. Lastly, we would like to thank the following people:-
-the Bonfire organisors and teachers for giving us the opportunity to perform.
-our supporters for ditching school and watch us. ain and aisha, too. haha!! u guys are great!!
-the audience for appreciating the music we play.

DOS will be recruiting another member, Hafiz, who will be playing the keyboard. He'll be joining us this coming week. Woooohoooo!! Currently, DOS is having a tight schedule with a whole lot of new songs to make and practice for a brand new song list. Since our name is Deviation of Ska, we'll be playing less skapunk this time. We'll practice hard to keep you guys skanking!!

Band Outing

Everyone was present for the outing yesterday but Shah. We had a blast sessioning songs for Smoking Cessation next week. Practice a new song, Come On Eileen, and modified some originals. Firstly, we went to Adelphi to practice. Practiced more of Come On Eileen there. It was pretty good for a first time playing. Then we went to the memorial hall 2 and practiced again. This time, we "revised" some of our old songs and also Come On Eileen. Then we went to the esplanade rooftop where we sessioned and concentrate on our originals. Getting lyrics, structure and also keep track of how many originals we have. DOS has 2 very talented member, Azam and Ian. Both are the ones who always have new songs to bring up for DOS. Then. there's Syafiq. He's the one with the singing tunes and horns tunes once the new song is up. Then. it's Dee. He's the one with the great guitar solos for all the songs. Farid is great with his drums and with the help of the members, he gave DOS the rhythm of DOS (lame, i noe). The horns, Mido, Zahidah and Shah, will always be blasting the audience off.
Currently, we have about 6 originals:
Psycho (completed but still under modifications)
Raya Song (under construction) [p.s.: this is great song]
Pink Umbrella (under construction)
Punkrock Song (under construction)
What to Say (somehow completed but under modifications and add ons)
Vespaku (acoustically completed)

Again, DOS did a great job. Only that the crowd wad really lame. We played well. Everyone was on good terms again and we appreciate the other bands supporting us at da front stage. DOS were enjoying themselves on stage without the crowd's help. We don't give a damn to those who don't appretiate local bands and yet come to local gigs. That's bullshit. To those who supported, we thank you all!!

Syafiq will be applying for Lasalle. Azam and Mido got into poly. Farid, Ian, Dee and Shah still serving their time in ITE. Zahidah will be taking her O levels this year after successfully going through N levels and getting an aggregate 5 for the best 3 subjects. Way to go DOS!! hahaha!!

-SkaWerkz-

DOS did wonderful job today thou it's not as good as in SkaFest and without our guitarist, Ian and saxophonist, Shah. The gig was delayed like more than an hour due to the late arrival of the equipments. It was supposed to start at 1pm but ended up starting at 2+pm. Bands had to play lesser songs ( we played only 4 ), some weren't even able to play due to the everything-has-to-be-done-by-7pm. But i guess the organisors did their best after the person who gave them the katong venue sold it to someone else at the very last minute. Even playing only 4 songs, DOS were unable to give their all coz of the previous days of practice which, i supposed, worn everyone out. But we did tried our best and glad that at least we have our supporters. As usual, we would like to thank the following people:-

- the organisors: thankz for giving us the opportunity to perform again. its great doing business wit u guys. (chey... business kepe... :P)
- comic strip, sally's rejex, swollen madcaps and secret agent: thanks for supporting us all the way. u guys rock manz!! ( p.s. thank u to Badot for borrowing me his Vincent Bach trumpet )
- shah and uka: thankz for taking video n pics of us n also supporting n helping us. thankz for being there. u guys are great!!
- supporters: thankz for supporting us thou we're not doing such a good job today.

i would like to inform all that DOS is not and will never be falling apart. everything was just a misunderstanding with lots of assumptions by all. we're now looking up to this and you guys will see us again next time. we'll be having new repertoire soon.

sorrie 4 not updating so much nowadays. everyone's been busy with their individual stuffs - school, werk, etc. i dunno. im sure most of us r having skool. azam n syafiq got their O levels results. dey passed. awesome. i got interview at RP. it went pretty rough coz i wast prepared. da rest, no news. really. i noe dis news wld suck. we're no longer as enthusiatic as b4. i mean not all. some r enthu its jus dat there are a couple of pple making attitude dat lost da enthusiasm of others. sucky rite. haiz. how suckier can we get. jus hope da rest wont give up coz of dem coz im sure we can really go far if we hve da same energy as last time.

At last performed at a ska fest! We did well.. REAL WELL! Proud of my band.. Yeah! Keep on rocking DOS! I would like to thank the organiser, the sound man, the crowd(although i can't reali see them frm the back), Sally's Rejex, Comic Strip, Swollen Madcap and the other ska bands who gave us support and encouragements. THANK U ALL!! Hoping to perform at a ska fest again..

Fun arh dat tyme...When we perform dat tyme, i can feel the adrenaline rushing... Too hype up till i got tired by the time we played the 2nd song. Ahakz! But i just go on.. 1st tyme Dee didn't hide behind the horns.. Can't reali hear the horns play.. The drums set were like fuck! But the show must go on...

Wat i noticed is dat the new ska bands played better than the old ones like FPM,Cesspit and Peas n Oats.. Dunno y lar... The Skins were like bouncers for the event... Preventing troubles or fights frm happening. Feel like rewinding time back to ska fest.. FUN FUN FUN..

The DOS had a wonderful experience playing for all the people in SkaFest '06. We'd played hard and it was worth it seeing all of you enjoying our performance. The sweat, the hard work, the blood rushes... everything was worth the effort. THANK YOU ALL!!

The band was really satisfied with their performance and hope to improve more. Farid got a number in the gig. Shah was pretty lost while performing but he did a wonderful job. For the 1st time, Dee didnt try to hide bahind the horns. Ian was the odd one out wearing a smart white coat. Syafiq was seen scared when the skins were angry at us. The girls, however, couldn't hear their backing up vocals and eventually gave up some of the time. Haha!!

hello all. ahahaks. here again. blogging abt DOS's progress. just met the organiser. tell us abt the gig and stuffs. the organiser told me to manage the band's slots and stuffs. so i did. tearing out pieces of paper and writing down the numbers from 3 to 10. didnt write 1 and 2 cause 2 bands didnt turn up. so yar. farid pick up DOS's slot. and we get the 7th slot. whippie!. ahahaks. its a good slot i shld say. cause its sumhow in the middle of the gig. expected to perform at abt 8 pm. ahahaks. so do catch us there and support yr local ska band. tata.

Hey all. as u all notice. there're some writings below. thats taken from our (d.o.s') frendster blog. so yar. i'm just putting it here so that u guys can read our past history etc. the latest performance we have was the 31st Dec show. it was more of a show then a gig. cause it was for this "concert azam" thing. so yeah. we're doing some good deed here. had a lot of fun there. its like performing infront of makciks2 and pakciks2.

not only that.. its shah's (tanor sax) first performance with DOS. ahahaks. hes good. i mean, everyone was good that time. the sound was superb everything. its just the event. ahahaks. well, after we perform, Jai ( a local single artist), called DOS to perfrom with him. so yar. we did. had lots of fun performing with him..

after the performance, DOS decided to celebrate NEW YEAR together. no exectly DOS cause some of them couldnt make it. ahhaks. yar. so thats abt all i guess to update. ahahks. till next time.

We've a brand new member in the band. The one who was actually to be performing with us for our previous gigs has finally become our official member and SAXOPHONIST. Weeeee!!
We'll be having a public performance this New Year's Eve but i've yet to know the details. It's not a gig though. We'd agreed to play for the organisers for our own benefits - to have more exposure.
OUr next gig though, will be the Ska Festival III in January 2006. Catch us out!! Keep on Skanking, people!!

there's some change of repertoire now since our guest saxophonist couldnt make it. we had our 1st jamming session after so long and it seemed to have a good start. we'd practice mostly on the joust, sellout, psycho (our original), n a little bit of medium unwell.
azam had finished his Os while Syafiq still has his art 2 go, if im not wrong. da rest are free, i supposed. zahidah looking for a job while waiting 4 results, dee n farid having their holidays soon, ian still werking hard but will have his holidays soon too and mido, she'll start her 2nd semester soon.
despite our different obstacles we have in our lives, we're still rather active being in a band. practising hard hoping we wouldnt cock up on da gig day itself.

Finally. Deviation Of Ska gt a gig. wippiiee. its on the 11 dec @ toa payoh CC. we cant wait to play. but we kinda face a lil prob. we're lagging now. every individuals have his/her own responsibilities. syafiq and azam facing their o levels, dee and farid wif their end of year exams, ian wif his job, mido and zahidah wif their own responsibilities. so its kinda hard for us to meet. but still, the spirit of having a band and performing is still there. we've sessioning with the horns, and it seems that we can make it. so no worries. lets hope we can make it in time and (hoping) not cocking up on stage itslf. ahahaks.
